How is it already February?? It’s been a heck of a busy year for us already. Time has gotten away from me, for sure. I’ve been wanting to craft for weeks, but never really had the extra time. Finally, I can share my latest Valentine DIY with you guys! Ya’ll know I love to party plan, and cake toppers are definitely one of my favorite crafts to make when it comes to parties. I made these clay heart toppers with oven-bake clay and they’re super easy to create. They take about 30 minutes from start to finish. And look how cute! Everything you need:
- Sculpey Oven-Bake Clay
- Acrylic Paint in Assorted Colors
- Cake Pop Sticks
- Paint Brush
- Gold Washi Tape (optional)
Shape your clay hearts however you want. I made mine a little rounded and different sizes for variation. Poke the cake pop stick through the bottom of the heart prior to baking. I used our toaster over and baked them according to the packaging (275° at about 15 minutes per 1/4″). Since mine are a little thicker, I did 20-25 minutes. Remove the sticks first if you need to, these were fine to bake with the clay. Once they’re completely cooled, let’s paint!Drying time is quick in between coats, so do two for the best coverage. You can poke them into Styrofoam to prop them up to dry, or use a cake pop tray.
I added gold washi tape and decorated the sticks to tie them all together. That’s all! For an extra little party DIY, I made the banner in the background with some fun doilies I found in the Target Dollar Spot bins. My favorite area at Target! Just fold them in half and string them together with baker twine. Add a little glue on the inside so they stay in place and you have a perfect Valentine’s Day banner. Mine is currently hanging on our mantel! ♥ For your next Valentine/Galentine bash, make these adorable heart cake toppers to dazzle over your favorite cake.
Store them to use over and over again. They’re sturdy and will last party after party!Happy crafting, lovies! XOXO
