Christmas Pompom Stockings

christmas-diy-pompom-stockings

Whew, it’s been a busy month so far! I was hoping to post this DIY much sooner… but shopping, work, mom stuff, and family get-togethers have slowed me down a little. I made an easy stocking tutorial that doesn’t take much time at all to complete. Even with Christmas a few days away, you still have plenty of time to create your own colorful pompom stockings!

Pompom stocking materialsMaterials:

  • Faux Fur Fabric
  • Felt in Assorted Colors
  • Multicolor Pompom Garland
  • Sewing Machine
  • Thread
  • Straight Pins
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue Gun

To begin, you need a template for the size of the stocking that you want. I traced an old one onto cardboard and used that as my guide. The faux fur I’m working with is a little wiggly. When tracing it, be sure you put enough pressure on the cardboard so it doesn’t slide around. I’m making 3 stockings so I cut out 6 shapes for mine. Once you have yours cut out, take two of them and line them up together to pin the edges in place.Diy pompom stockingAs I mentioned how wiggly the faux fur is, you’ll want to put your straight pins close together. It makes sewing it much easier! Sew about a 1/4″ seam around the stocking, leaving the top open.

I’ve cut out two pieces for my stocking cuff, and a small strip of the fur material for the hanger. Christmas stocking diyPin the left and right edges on your cuff and sew a 1/4″ seam there as well.Sewing stocking cuffWith the seams of the cuff visible, pin the bottom around the opening of your stocking like below.

If necessary, press the seams at the opening with an iron. christmas stockings craftNext, attach the pompom garland using a hot glue gun. Diy pompom stocking craftThat’s it! I love how they go with my gingerbread and candy filled theme. These stockings are definitely ready for Santa! Diy christmas pompom stockingsFor a full tutorial of my wood cut-out gingerbread houses, click here.
